All notable user-facing changes to CaptionFlow ship as a tagged release here. Format follows Keep a Changelog; the project uses Semantic Versioning.

Every release is signed and notarized for macOS.

Added

• Optional organization on activation. The activation window has a new Organization field. Leave it blank, or enter your outlet or company name — it's kept with your license record, which makes life easier when one newsroom runs several licenses. Existing licenses aren't affected and nothing is required.

• On‑disk activity log for troubleshooting. CaptionFlow now keeps a rolling log of each run at ~/Library/Logs/CaptionFlow/captionflow.log (capped so it can't grow without bound). The About tab has a new Reveal Log in Finder button under Diagnostics so you can grab it when reporting an issue.

• Update notice is more prominent. When an update is available, a bright Update button now appears top‑left next to the wordmark (and on launch), so you won't miss it.

Fixed

• Installs cleanly on every Mac. Re‑released so the app carries its notarization with it — a fresh install is no longer blocked by macOS ("blocked to protect your Mac") on some Macs.

• Now runs on Intel Macs. This is now a universal app, so it opens on both Apple-silicon and Intel Macs. Earlier builds were Apple-silicon only, which gave Intel users “this application is not supported on this Mac.” (No other changes — same app, now built for both processors.)

• Launch update notice. CaptionFlow now checks for a new version shortly after it opens. When one is available, a one-time notice offers to download it (or remind you later), and a small Update badge stays in the header until you install it — click it to jump to the About tab. The notice won't reappear until a newer version ships.

• License badges. The License panel on the About tab now marks special licenses: a gold badge for an administrator (all-access) license, and a violet badge for a permanent license that never expires.

• Code Replacements — a whole new tool. A new tab builds code-replacement files for Photo Mechanic®, AText, AutoHotkey, Typinator, or CSV from rosters you provide, so the names and numbers are always current and accurate. Paste a team's roster link (CaptionFlow reads the roster off the page) or paste the roster text, review it in an editable table, and export to .txt (tab-delimited) or .csv.
• Live preview of exactly how each code expands as you change the options.
• Formatting options: AP (99) or wire-service #99 numbering, "Standard" or "{Player} … of the {Team}" phrasing, single- vs three-character codes, prefix + jersey or prefix + initials, multiple tab stops, optional position codes, accent stripping, and an optional delimiter.
• Prefilled menus for every sport, league, and the major pro teams — or skip the menus entirely and let CaptionFlow detect the teams from the roster you paste.
• College football rosters are supported, with position codes that disambiguate shared jersey numbers (e.g. offense vs. defense wearing the same number).
• Golf is supported — paste the tee times or leaderboard and CaptionFlow builds codes from each player's initials (e.g. Sam Burns of the United States), auto-numbering duplicates.
• A built-in debug log shows what was read or parsed from each source.

Fixed

• Accented names (e.g. José González) now convert correctly even when the text is stored in macOS's decomposed form.
• A team name with irregular spacing is no longer mistaken for a college caption — captions are tidied before conversion.
• Player names ending in a single-letter suffix (e.g. David Sills V) now convert instead of being left unchanged.
• Re-running on already-captioned images is now safe. CaptionFlow recognizes a finished caption and skips it, so processing a folder a second time won't disturb captions that are already done.

• Updating quits the app for you. When you download an update, CaptionFlow now asks to confirm, then downloads it, opens the installer, and quits — so you can drag the new version straight into your Applications folder. (macOS won’t let you replace an app while it’s running.)

• Licenses are now re-checked at launch, which allows a license to be revoked remotely. If the server is unreachable, the app falls back to your saved offline license so a brief outage never locks you out.
